Puto Bumbong is a purple rice cake steamed in bamboo tubes that is commonly sold during the Christmas season in the Philippines. They are slathered with margarine (butter), topped with grated coconut, sugar, and sometimes, grated cheese wrapped in banana leaves.

Puto Sulot is a popular street food unique to Malabon and Navotas sold especially during Christmas season in the Philippines.
Puto Sulot is steamed glutinous white rice, cooked basically the same way as the Puto Bumbong. When it’s cooked, a rod is used to push the metal ring and the rice out of the bamboo cylinder. It is then sprinkled with a mix of grated young coconut and white sugar and then served with salted egg and grated cheese.
