Unique program combines treatments for alcohol-related liver disease and addiction

There's a growing number of young people with livers damaged from alcohol. Doctors say it's only gotten worse, especially during the pandemic. NBC News' Zinhle Essamuah takes us to Michigan where a unique program is treating patients' physical and mental health to better understand a patients' drive to drink.

I recently made the decision to quit drinking at the age of 28. I couldn’t just have 1 drink and obsessed with the thought of the next one. I come from a family of alcoholics and some uncles of mine are now seeing the physical results of decades of drinking. I don’t want to end up like them and would rather be a role mode for my younger male cousins and show them that they don’t need to drink to be a man.
