Only 35 million? Holy crap. Compared to the rest of what the government spends money on, do it.

Hauling Her to Alabama will be a Bleeping NIGHTMARE! She very nearly sank back in 1988-89 when she Was Towed to Galveston for her last Refit... This whole ride will have a Pucker Factor of FIFTEEN!

Edit: Oh and as to her Disposition Post Op, I'd be Okay with Galveston Getting Her! La Porte sure hasn't been good for her Health over the past Seventy years! More people will see Her in Galveston... Hell, build Her a Protected Slip on Pelican Island at Seawolf Park! Rename it "The Texas Park"!

As long as they put it away from those refineries. I so wanted to see it for many years and when I finally had a chance in April, I couldn't due to a refinery fire they had weeks ago and the area was still considered to be contaminated. I don't know how close to the city they could move it but if they can't get it close enough, then move it to Galveston where all the tourist are, like she pointed out. This was an out of way place to begin with.

So there are no tourists in Houston, like on the way to Kemah and NASA where you drive right by the Texas? If only the Texas was docked at a major battlefield in Texas history next to a super tall tower or something....
