Meet the Dodge Deora! This custom pickup truck of unusual proportions was built by the Alexander Brothers, masters of car customization in Detroit in the ‘60s. Based on a design proposal by Harry Bentley Bradley, Dodge agreed to give the Alexander Brothers a new Dodge A100 pickup truck to customize. Finished in time for the 1967 Detroit Autorama, the Deora took the coveted Ridler award and made custom car fame. Soon, it became known by kids worldwide as popular models and toys!

The Dodge Deora is the 36th vehicle added to the National Historic Vehicle Register, and is owned by Tom Abrams of Reliable Carriers, Inc.

This car will be on display at this year’s Cars at the Capital on the National Mall in Washington, DC from September 22nd-24th.

If The Jetsons owned a car, this would be it.

I always thought the deora had a flat 6, with that low profile. Alexander bros were wild. I wish this had made it to production.

I remember it from the cars shows in the 1960's I used to talk my dad into taking me to. Got to see a bunch of the custom cars back in the day.

pretty cool that it's still available to see for future generations

The A-bros are legends that don't get as much recognition as they should.

It was very innovative, and is still ahead of its time.

Absolutely crazy that the Cannonball Countach was on the register before the Deora. They both deserve it, don't get me wrong, I'm just amazed at the order in which it happened.

I never noticed before that the side scoops are apparently made from Mustang taillight bezels turned sideways. I did know the windshield is from the upper tailgate of a ‘60 Ford wagon, though.

One of my favorite Hot Wheels in '69 or so.

Imagine tracking this with a 426 in the back. That thing would be a rocket on wheels!

Cool cab-forward design, but scary to think of a frontal collision impact!
