I certainly did misspeak in this video and call CM Punk by Edge's name accidentally. We all make mistakes, so sue me. Let me know if you caught it!

The WWE is essentially live theatre, and not all plays go without a hitch. The worst is that if the move is botched, you might brace the wrong way and end up with a more serious injury than intended. WWE wrestlers always have my respect for the amount of physical talent you need to be a wrestler.

Dr. Raynor I appreciate the fact you look at wrestling in a serious manner instead of just saying it’s fake and moving on

Saying Kofi as coffee and not co-fee made me smile a bit lol

As an indie wrestler in Idaho I always think. 1, tuck my chin, but 2, bones are great in compression but not rotation.

The thing was that Indi hartwell was called right up to the main roster that night but couldn’t actually take her place on it. She did however drop her newly won title to the next woman before getting out of the ring. She returned at a small battle royal as she wouldn’t have to do much. Indi was later in backstage segments and currently is teaming with friend Candice Leray as a tag team so she can slowly test her ankle in matches. WWE has a policy of slow recovery matches where the talent is tested little by little in matches that don’t really mean much but can test injuries just a little. Just until their doctors determine it’s ok to proceed in a big match.

Thank you Doctor for explaining different joint injuries. My son had left knee ACL completely rebuilt with upper thigh ligament graft procedure. He was 10 going on 11. Currently he is 16 and recovering from rt knee meniscus major tear requiring extensive reattachments anchors. Approaching the last month of rehab. It's a miracle what orthopedic surgeons accomplish year round at Pediatric level and adult surgery. The physical therapy is a huge part once surgery has to to heal first then PT. He is fortunate to remain pain free after each occurrence.

On the topic of the Finn Balor injury, they weren't worried so much about a concussion because he was lacerated due to the sharpness of the latter, rather than the intensity of the impact. And they used staples, as you guessed, for expediency. The doctors and nurses on hand need to move as quickly as possible so that they're clear for stand-by. Especially at gimmick PPVs like Hell in a Cell.

Did you mean straight edge? Cause that last guy was CM Punk.

11:24 I was at that Wrestlemania. The ringside medic did do concussion protocol while also sealing the wound.

I agree about it being good that wrestlers show more of their recovery now. I get why in the past it was kept quiet, these were supposed to be "superhumans" and the idea of them getting injured was considered to be damaging to that image. BUT. Seeing the recovery, to me, reinforces the idea that these people are superhuman because you get to see how hard they're working and how much work it takes to recover from an injury.

10:33 Ironically, most hardcore matches end up beong safer for the wrestlers as having multiple weapon spots in a match would reduce the risk of people botching throws.

If doing a lot of chair shots to the back means less chances of landing on your head then so be it

Great video as usual! Your analysis is always informative without being judgmental of pro wrestling. I also appreciate that you call out the great work the talent, surgeons, and therapists do in making their recovery quicker than average.

When it comes to WWE in the past, the former CEO Vince McMahone always urged his performers to finish a match if they're injured. Maven put out a video about his broken ankle during a baseball slide and how he still finished the match with it only for Vince to praise him for doing so. Vince engrained "the show must go on no matter what" into his wrestler's minds. Hell, they had a death happen at one show and they still went on with it.

These videos are great at giving me a more in-depth look at the injuries and how they are repaired and rehabbed.

My friend broke his ankle one morning when his friend picked him up sideways and accidentally swung his legs into the corner of a building. He came into work that day and was already in a lot of pain. It was pretty swollen and very, very purple and red. It looked bad. None of us considered it might be broken, including him. He went the whole day working, driving, and walking on a broken ankle. Then he was out sick for like five or six months or something. It still hurts and aches and gets worse during the course of the day. He says it throbs especially when driving because it’s his right ankle. He’s also broken both of his ankles a total of eight times I think, mostly when he was younger.

Every time I see a wrestling injury play out I wince just a little, whether storyline or real, I've been on that end of the stick, injuries suck

Dakota Kai actually tore her knee twice. She is pretty injury prone in there but it might be because her knee has a bad cross or something.

It's one thing to get injured for a big spot for an event like Hell in a Cell or even just Elimination Chamber but remember there are bingo hall promotions out there with dudes doing crazy spots for a hotdog and a handshake.
