This thing just showed up at the post office with my name on it. Have no idea who even sent it to me.

I have one of these and love it. Great for mounting smd components when you just need to do a small area or a small board. They need to sell a small, height adjustable stand for leveling up bigger boards as I'm always searching for stuff to put under a bigger board that hangs over the edge.

Looks like that would work well for dealing with high power LEDs on MCPCBs

Thank you! I didn't even assume that such devices exist.

Looks like it would be very useful for working on cell phones and other miniature electronics

This looks like it could be very useful to those who have the need for such a thing. I do lots of repairs but my soldering skills are limited so i could not make use of one unfortunately.

Cool tool. I agree with you about the modern equipment though, too much aggravation.

Well it did seem to help and it's free :-D
I imagine the heatgun has enough thump to do the job anyway.

Great for heating up postage stamp size PCB’s, or your be spending all your time balancing a board on it.

662 degrees? I'd find other uses for this gizmo. I'd try cooking stuff on it. Hey I've seen a guy cook a steak in a toaster.

Surface mounted components! Pain in the butt. Cause me more headaches than everything else. won't come off, bitch to put back on. I just get the impression that they don't want things repaired. Well, I stay away from them as much as I can, I just hate them. Some of the resistors and caps' are just to small for the power handling they are rated for. At least some caps' fail in dramatic style! You don't have to look hard to find them. Huge skid mark on the PCB and you have it. But everything is going that way now, but I just hate it.
