I'm going to buy that safe now. It took him all day to open it.

Wayne is correct about the safe being low end.  If I had $2000 I would buy a high end safe and be very happy with my investment. However, I can only afford the $300 safe so that's what I have and I feel very good about it.   I've been in law enforcement for 8 years and have taken a lot of burglary reports.  I've never seen anyone even try to force open a safe in this city.  They kick your door, rampage through the house checking the usual hiding spots and get out quickly. When they come across a safe (even a Stack-on) that is bolted down they spin the dial with a sad look on their face and leave with whatever wasn't locked up.  Buy whatever safe you can afford.  I don't mean to take away from what Wayne is saying because he is correct.  I'm just saying any safe is better than no safe.

Not to say it's impossible but, I think you would have a hell of a time if this safe was mounted against a wall. Left side and back side of the safe against the wall. Then you would have no leverage to pry from. So my suggestion is if you are on a budget and only can buy this style safe, Mount it in the far left corner. bolt it to the floor and wall.

That's all well and good, but this assumes a lot of things...
1. That the robbers know you have a gun safe and come prepared. Most robbers want to be in and out, looking for guns in nightstands and the like. Most home robbers don't even bring pry bars.
2. That no one is going to hear all that racket and come and investigate.
3. That you don't have a house alarm or some other secondary means of security besides a safe. Security should be like an onion, with multiple layers. I wouldn't rely on any one thing.

The point of this video baffles me. So given plenty of time (no police on the way) and with 100 pounds of tools a $200 gun safe can be defeated? Spoiler alert....I can 'unlock' your house with a rock. No tutorial required.

I get it.  Given time, effort, tools and enough work space you can get into this safe.  What would really impress me is if you can actually have one installed in a walk in closet like most safes are installed in.  With all the actually items that you would also find in a walk in closet and in the cramped conditions in a walk in closet.  Use the same tools in the video and see if you can get into the safe in 5 to 10 mins.  Now that would be impressive.  Lets see a videos like that.  Because in the real world.  People, well most people wouldn't install any safe in the middle of a garage with several grades of Prybars and hand sledges at the ready.

The common thief will not go through this much effort to break into a safe. They'll grab what they can and get out as fast as they can.

Looks like installing it against a corner to negate the pry bar attack would help.

Wow, I'm impressed how difficult this cabinet was to pop open. I've seen so-called safes opened in less than 30 seconds with pry bars.

You know for the money it's a lot of security. The biggest thing is keeping the youngsters out.

If the whole point of your video is that you can break into the safe/cabinet "in minutes, " then for crying out loud, do not speed up the video. [face-palm]

I've bolted one of this flimsy safe down in a tiny closet, there's no way anyone would've have a room to use a crowbar.

My primary reason for purchasing this "lockable container" was not about bad that guys would break in, I have a good home alarm system for that.  My concern was keeping my grand kids away from what was inside.  Your demo proved that the container will do that, thanks.

Fantastic Video Again Wayne. It is just unreal how Unsafe Safes are. Cheap ones at least...! Keep up the great work. Nick.

all safes can be broken into in one way or another. I notice you had unlimited room to pry and so safe placement would a key issue as much as the safe itself

That's a long time when the alarm is going off

Great video, ... I own a stack on cabinet and I like it, .. Mine is bolted to the studs and in a tight closet, .. Yes it can be broken into but it will be a great fight to get in it the way I have it set up ... Thanks for the video .

I've watched about a dozen pry open safe videos in the last couple of days. Yours is the first video Ive seen with the safe bolted to the floor with one guy, not two with the safe flipped on it's back, breaking into it. ( like you said ). My $500 gun safe scares the hell out of me. I really had no idea how easy they were to pry open. On a positive note, I am in the process of investing in a $3400 American made gun safe, which will be mine at the end of the week. I had to develop a mindset that says I'm not buying safe, I'm "investing" in the security of my prized possessions.
