I really like this style! When you move to your new home, can you please film a video on your new methods of building a raised bed?

I'd like to see more "blast from the past" videos. This one was an awesome choice.
I actually saw the original video a couple weeks ago. I can't wait to get mine all set up. I already have amended soil ready to go. 2 double up beds, here I come.

Hey! That's what I said when I watched it a couple weeks ago too! "Awww! Look how far you've come!" I haven't been with you the whole time but I'm excited about your new adventure!

I am a new gardener and I was inspired by this video. I bought around 4 cu feet soil, added some compost and perlite. I planted beans and cucumbers. After a few months, I realized the soil has sunk in. I should have probably filled it to the top. I also thought that next time I should probably increase the height of the raised bed. I guess my inferences were correct. Thanks for the update. If you can, please link this video in the old video, if not done already .

This was so beneficial and perfect timing for me. I had just watched the original video today at 6am and was going to build one within the next week. Now I know how you would correct it. Thank you so much.

I think it's fun to look back and see how you would do a project differently after several years of experience. One thing I'll never do again is build a garden out of landscape timber. Even treated they only lasted five or so years before they became termite food! Now I only use rock or cement blocks when building a raised garden.

I think it is a great tip especially for beginners to get great soil. It may be that I’m spoiled with awesome garden soil for free, but not having to pay for it is great. Chop and drop has really helped me keep fertility up.

This is really cool to see your growth since you started! And still solid video, love the modular, renters design. 👍

Perfect timing with this video!

I started out in containers this year since there wasn't enough time/money/energy for raised beds (and certainly not for traditional beds) but I've been bitten by the gardening bug. I spent a couple of hours today poking sticks into the ground and tying string around them to lay out potential positions for 4 beds. (Probably spent more time untying string and changing where the sticks were, but that's just the way things go 😏.) Now I get to watch the sun tomorrow and see how many hours of light the potential beds get.

I was glad to hear your words about focusing on being "less wrong" rather than "more right" and accepting mistakes. I have a pretty big area to garden in, and let a bed go fallow for a few years. A neighbor gave me a huge pile of rotted manure last summer. Hey, I'll put a whole bunch of that manure in the new bed! Put the plants right in! WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?? All that nitrogen burned the bejeezus out of my home-sprouted tomato, tomatillo & pepper plants. Studied up and learned that 1) old manure still needs to go in a bed the prior fall and 2) if you dress with rotted manure, use sparingly! Luckily I had one starter of each that hadn't been planted yet. Transplanted the ones that looked to have a bit of life left into another bed. Lesson learned! I'll leave that hi-octane bed for next year! Thanks for being here for us!

Is this dude reading my mind or what?! I was just researching how to start a raised garden bed with minimal effort. My landlord approved it so I’m gunna make one! I’m zone 9 here in Sactown so I’m pretty sure I have lots of stuff I can still grow this month. Woot woot! Never thought I’d get this happy over gardening hahaha

Well Kevin, after watching this video, I showed it to my husband. He loved the way you put that together and he got this look on his face that I knew meant we were headed to Lowe’s later on. Yep, and that helped us to demarcate the new section of the garden, as wel do container gardening. The soil where we live is mostly clay, and if you dig down too far, it’s brackish water. Growing in tubs and buckets have been much easier. Thanks for showing this.

Loved loved loved this video. I’m always reflecting on my gardening mistakes. This video reminds me of Angela Mayor’s quote, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” Gardening definitely teaches us life lessons! 💕💕💕

Kevin, I really need you to make a video about cover crops! You mentioned that you cover-crop your raised beds - what exactly are you planting and when? Thank you!

Love that you did this! Would be awesome to see more videos like this that go back through your old videos/talk about how things have changed!

We have 2- 4x4 beds, 1- 4x2 bed, and 1- 6x1 bed we made after seeing your video a little earlier this year. It’s working well for now and we plan on conditioning the soil and raising each bed by a blocks height each year moving forward until it’s our ideal height. We bought our place nearly 3 years ago and finally went for it when I came home from the nursery with a dozen packs of seeds and 15 tomato and 3 pepper seedlings. Lol. My husband said he had no choice but to make it happen this year. It’s been the best time together!

It is impressive to see how much you have learned since you first began. Interesting that you are willing to take a look at your old videos and improve on them. Well done

The timing of this video getting recommended is impeccable! (Thanks Youtube!) I just built the box for my garden yesterday using your method from the 1st vid. I was headed to the store for soil today, and now I have a better idea of exactly what I need. 🎉

I just made a new raised bed with timber from my property. It’s about 6” tall, but its amended 1.5’ down 👍🏻 Love your channel. Congrats on all of your recent achievements 🎉 👏🏻 🎈
