Donald Trump may have started the Republican presidential primary strong with wins in Iowa and New Hampshire — but nearly half of GOP voters there didn’t vote for him.

When those voters were asked if they’d vote for him in November, if he was the nominee — a good percentage of them said no.

So who are these Republicans that won’t vote for Trump? WSJ looks at the data to see who this is and what it could mean for Trump in the general election.

Chapters:
0:00 Trump’s problem
0:47 What defines these voters?
3:43 The stakes for the general election

"Willing to break the rules to get things done" just means "engages in authoritarian practices to go against the will of the majority of American people." They're barely even coding their language nowadays.

The fact that he knew that a Republican raising their hand if not voting for him would be dangerous, is telling.

The GOP has dug itself into such a deep hole over the last 7-8 years and they just keep digging. My former party is unsavable at this point, and it will take at least a generation to overcome. Quite possibly two generations.

"Dont raise your hand it could be dangerous"
Yep. That about sums up his voters. Pretty scary.

I'm so disgusted by the blind fealty the GOP gives Trump I don't feel I can ever support the GOP again

I’m a lifelong Republican who has voted against Trump twice already and will do so again. This analysis describes my view of Trump well. I hope he loses again and the Republicans’ Trump fever finally breaks.

For me, our foreign policy is a top concern. There are too many MAGA people willing to sell put our allies to Russia and China.

Being a life long republican, I would NEVER vote for him or anyone he endorses. He is a traitor. I am voting blue 👍👍👍

So sad to see America in such turmoil. Trump has demonstrated irrefutably, before, during & since his one & only term as president, that he is not a a fit & proper person to ever hold high office again.

Lifelong Republican in MS here. Trump will never see my vote. The man is grossly incompetent and unhinged. All I have to consider is how many of his hand-picked team have now come out to say how inferior he is.

Nikki Haley appears to be playing the long game, here, whether or not it ever pays off is a different matter.

I'm just at a loss on why the average Republican voter isn't attracted to someone with honor, integrity, statesmanship, and an earnest belief in the fact that we are all Americans and deserve unity and civil discourse.

If the border and immigration are as critical as Republicans insist that it is, then refusing to accept the best deal they have had in decades is ridiculous. This is a problem Trump and the GOP want to demagogue, but not to actually fix.

I like how you based a large part of you analysis on the NH primary when it's been proven 90+% of the Haley voters planned on voting for Biden in the general when exit polled.

Describing people of my ilk as merely “Anti-Trump Republicans” is not providing an accurate description. We’re anti corruption and against Fascism/Authoritarianism. We’re pro-law enforcement, pro freedom of choice, pro worker, pro Constitution, and think it’s horrible to have a party attempt an insurrection.

I have lived in the US since 1976 and for all of that time I have considered myself a Republican. (I still think Reagan was one of our best Presidents) I am both socially and fiscally conservative. This year I finally became a US citizen (better late than never:-) and was delighted to finally register to vote. I registered as a Democrat and will vote that way. We used to have two political parties in this country, each with their opinions, platforms and strategies. Today we have one political party and an insane asylum controlled my the craziest (and stupidest) inmate.

After the election let's come back to this video and see how credible they really are.

Most of the republicans I know are out on this guy. The people I know who are into him are fervently into him, at an unhealthy level. He can do no wrong when all he does is wrong. Please, America, make it stop.

I was a Young Republican in college, I volunteered for Regan’s reelection, I’m a vet, and I reluctantly voted for Trump in 2016. That is the last vote he will ever get from me or my family. I will vote for Sleepy Joe before I vote for Trump!

Well duh. Some Americans wish to live free and not under the thumb of a despot.
