‘We will not rest’ - A look into the UK student uprising for Palestine
Показать описание
Students across 36 Universities in the UK set up encampments to protest Israel's actions in Gaza and to ask their universities to divert from Israel.
Middle East Eye spoke to students at UK universities, who are actively involved in Palestine encampments amidst the global student uprising against Israel’s war on Gaza.
They told us how they encountered hostility from university management, with many organisers taken to court and evicted, as well as facing harassment, violent police crackdowns, and extensive disciplinary action.
Despite mounting challenges, students affirmed that their struggle is far from over, and that this is “only the beginning”.
As of 28 August, Israel’s catastrophic war on Gaza has killed 40,534 Palestinians since 7 October 2023, with more than 93,778 wounded and an estimated 10,000 missing, likely dead and buried under rubble.
All universities in the besieged enclave have either been damaged or destroyed in what human rights groups have called an "ongoing crime of genocide".
