Tesla may be planning to unveil the million mile battery at the delayed yet upcoming Battery Investor Day. Elon Musk has alluded to a battery capable of lasting a million miles. This will enable key products and services at Tesla including the Tesla Semi, and the Robotaxi network, vehicle to grid applications and more.

Tmio, I think you miss one important element with the million mile battery (mmb). Like other comments about this video, yes, Tesla will put the mmb onto the commercial trucks which need a lot of mileage, but the real strategy behind this is the V2G via the Autobidder software so Tesla owners can sell the energy back to utility along with using it as backup energy source on homes. I'm a 7-year Model S owner and there is no way I replace my battery to mmb pack due to high cost but if Tesla offers me a good deal or my utility company can provide the credit on the energy I sell, I will consider. By the way, a million Tesla cars of 60KW to 100KW equates to over a GW's of energy.

The purchase of Maxwell is the key to longer life of the battery. They make high capacity capacitors. If you search the web, you will see videos of people that have replaced the regular car battery with a capacitor bank. When you accelerate, this is what puts the greatest strain on a battery, so why not use the capacitor bank to handle the strain and reduce the battery recharge cycle. That increases the battery life by at least half or more.

MMB is easy with LiFePO, like CATL’s; The new Tesla Battery, likely NCA, uses electrolyte additives for electrode passivation to get to MMB.
Both cheap (FePO) and premium (NCA) MMB solutions will support V2G/VPP and be provided at different trim levels of several models.

The Robotaxi network also gives owners a super easy disposal network. By selling it back to Tesla for use as a taxi or for reclamation, Tesla can extract the most value since they put it together. And owners can get a credit off a new vehicle or for taxi trips if they age out of the driving market or decide not to own a new vehicle.
