Magnus and the Norwegian team are like that project group in college where only one guy does all the work and everyone else is slacking off.

This Olympiad has been a real treat! Great recap, Levy!

30:22 Actually Eric didn't resign. Because of the way the clocks in this olympiad are set, bonus time isn't actually added after move 40 but rather after the clock hits 0:00. It's an odd system but that's what's being used in the Olympiad. Eric was actually 2 seconds late on his 40th move which means he ended up flagging, but since his clock hit 0:00 he was granted additional time regardless. This was a little confusing but Giri claimed the flag, the arbiter was called and it was confirmed that Eric did lose on time.

In 2020 Gukesh was a measly 2580 rated young talent, and since I was doing well in a tournament, I had the chance to play him in the fifth round. I had the white pieces, but it didn't feel like it, he just played extremely accurately, I gave him no problems and I was forced to resign on the 30th move after a game during which, it felt, not much had actually happened. It was really an experience, amazing player

Gukesh is 16 years old. Today his live rating touched 2714.1 and he is just behind Vishwanathan Anand and Pentala Harikrishna in India. Hope he can keep the fireworks going in the tournament.

Love these recaps as it's difficult to go through all the games and you present it in a very concise manner.

Love these videos, love your recaps. Suggestion/question: could you add some sort of standardized titling for series. (Olympiad 2022 - Round 5 (This is INSANE!!!)) or something. I feel like I’m not the only one who misses a video I would like because I don’t know what type of material it is. Great work though, love the obvious improvement to you as a person over the last couple years, keep it up.

"The only way to bring down a king's position is with pawns, or with pieces." Finally I learn something useful! I had been using the clock this entire time!

Just an addition:
In the Giri vs Hansen game, Hansen didn't resign but he lost on time, on the 40th move, it was controversial look it up

Levy covering Gukesh's games and setting up his hero arc is really cool. Have I ever seen what this man looks like? No. Is he the player I want to succeed the most even though I am an American? Hell Yeah.

Gotham hypes this chess event up so much and I LOVE it. It's so entertaining to watch and I'm also learning new moves, openings, and counterplay, too!

Gillan Bwalya must have had balls of steel considering he is facing the GOAT of chess that too in classical being an IM himself!

Thanks for showing the Hansen game. He lost on time.

P.S. i was showing my friend how to play chess yesterday, she has never played. After i show her the basics, i recommend a great video to watch to help her improve. One of yours of course. When your face came up on the screen, her face lite up, she like”OMG i know this guy!” Apparently you gave one of her favourite streamer lessons or something like 2 years ago. (Not gonna lie i thought it was for other reasons lol) she starts saying how funny you were.
Keep up the good work and don’t forgot the positive effect you have on people. Hopefully you enjoy this little story.
