On the evening of August 15, 1977, just a little bit after 11:00 p.m. local time, the Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University picked up a signal that lasted for one minute and twelve seconds. After more than 40 years, the signal's origin is still a mystery, and it stands as the most vital possible piece of evidence that points to the existence of an extraterrestrial civilization. The revelation that the signal has the potential to be the most critical finding in the history of humanity.

It would reassure us that we are not the only ones in this situation. At first, a dated mainframe computer at the Big Ear observatory was the one to discover the signal. No person was involved in this discovery. The observatory had a high degree of automation and supplied printouts of any intriguing signals that it had picked up. These printouts were transported to and from the residence of Dr. Gerry Haven regularly so that he could examine them and determine what was included within them. He didn't notice the signal until a few days after receiving it.

It was the strongest signal that he had ever seen coming from the telescope, and it still holds the record for being the strongest signal that the Big E has ever received from SETI in its entire career. In light of this, Dr. Ayman penned the word "Wow" on the printout around the signal. After analyzing the data, it was determined that the signal possessed all of the characteristics of extraterrestrial technical communication.

Of course, the Wow signal's power is the first quality worthy of remark regarding this signal. In fact, the well-known 6EQ UJ5 reflects precisely this. This sequence does not contain a message, as is sometimes asserted; instead, it demonstrates the signal's increasing and decreasing strength levels. This is how the system functions: it begins with a number between 0 and 1, mirrored with a unique character.

The obvious issue is whether or not the data contained anything resembling a message, and the answer is that it did not. It would appear that the transmission was modulated with a nun waveform. It did not appear to be anything that would come in from a radio station; instead, it seemed to be a raw radio wave continuously broadcasting.

The increase and decrease in strength were not caused by anything from the original source; rather, it was simply due to the radio telescope sweeping by the signal. Because the telescope's position is anchored to the planet and is thus susceptible to the planet's rotation. According to a history published by the American Astronomical Society, researchers have conducted several searches since then, looking for follow-ups emanating from the exact location; however, they have come up empty each time.

The Wow! Signal originated from some form of natural occurrence rather than being transmitted by extraterrestrial beings. Despite this, scientists have eliminated a few potential causes, such as a passing comet, as the cause.

I truly think that it is an Inteligent message. I just think that we are not at that point where we can understand what it really means.

Maybe the wow signal was somebody of an alien species sending a text message. Maybe a space alien man sending his wife a reminder message about what he wants for supper. Another possibility could be a space alien woman reacting to her new boyfriend sending a naked picture of himself. Whatever it was, we dont have the decoding key here on Earth.

Expecting that there is being that has evolved in the same way as human to use same tools and technology is a bit funny.
I think we shouldn't try to contact beings that are biologically very similar (live on planet like earth) to us.
It's same as when some hidden tribe wants to contact modern human and welcome them into their little paradise.
Or worse, imagine some hidden peaceful primates making contact with us.

That can't end good!

Why would it be mind boggling to think that of all the planets in all the galaxies in this gigantic universe that we aren’t the only planet with life. That’s not mind boggling, that’s logic… if you think otherwise you’re delusional or religious.
