So true, I fell victim to this myself. I was so focused on perfect form that I never allowed myself to progress. Of course good form is important, but you've got to push yourself. And when you do, it won't be perfect, and that's ok.

for those that didn’t get the point of this snippet of a video, in his pursuit for perfection, he regressed instead of making gains, and he regrets it… in other words one should not let the struggle for perfection stand in the way of appreciating or executing on something that is imperfect but still of value. Perfect is the enemy of good!

I’d rather squat 90% as heavy with 95% good form than quitting 60% as heavy with 99% good form

I was once overwhelmed from training and anxious about my forms, One of my best trainers told to stop listening to everyone and watching my form waiting for it to be perfect and just keep working hard, eat well and sleep well. Best advice I got. Raw action beats everything

There’s a fine line between having good form and being hypercritical

Great work on the knee cancer awareness video, keep it up.

Respect for sharing this perspective! I’ve had to ease off strength to restore symmetry from previous injuries and now strength is inherently returning, much needed sacrifice to the ego for overall progress💪

I tell people this in just business. Stop looking or trying to be perfect. If you try for perfect, you'll never get anywhere and you'll never finish anything. Find out where good enough is, get there first, and then try to improve a little while still moving forward.

Yeah I think being too much of a technique cyborg can definitely stall progress

Yep I’ve noticed this. Never lifted heavier because I never thought I had good enough technique. Wasn’t until I realized when you lift heavier, it won’t be perfect at first, but when you have finally gotten that new heavy weight with good form, then you know you’ve gotten stronger.

I think people often really overlook the fact that the human body is meant to be dynamic and work in tandem with itself...there's no true 1 way to do a movement, just getting the job done without risk of injury or skipping out on the reason you're doing it in the first place.

I did this like 4 years ago to chase good form, and honestly completely worth it. He just hasn’t been doing it long enough, strength will come

Best advice I got related to the big lifts is the following...you have the ideal form and YOUR form. The goal is to find something in the middle that works best for YOU.

The best advice that my coach gave me back when I'm starting on my fitness journey is, "it worked on me but that doesn't mean it will for you, try it all and gain knowledge from experience then create your own program that suits you".

Fell in the exact same trap for years. I ended up jus stalling progress in pursuit of the perfect squats. The moment I let go of that and trust my body to just do what it does numbers rocketed

You have to find the balance between aiming for perfect technique and progressing on the lift. There are instances where you will have to humble yourself to improve your technique on a lift, that's part of the journey. Leaning too far in the pursuit of progress will just lead to eventual injury, while leaning too far in the pursuit of perfection will slow your growth.

Cutting to Dr. Mike in the middle of his full ROM eyebrow lift was beautiful.
