Beautiful countryside and the deer have been there for many many years .
My family and many other, s lived next door to Attingham Hall in a place known as Atcham Camp where after WW2 soldiers returning from the war to their families were housed in old army huts right next to the wooded area where the deer came up to the fence .
It was wonderful there primitive housing but kept beautifully tidy by the young mother, s who lived there .
In 1953 all the families were re housed and although the huts stood for a good many more years they were eventually demolished .
One may wonder if the huts had not been made available, where would the families have been housed, such was the housing shortage then . Nothing changes .
A further two mile you will come across Wroxeter known as Viraconiam a Roman built market baths and ruins,
Opposite the ruins is a small red brick semi detached house and my grandparents Elsie and Ernest Woodhouse lived and worked for the Everall family who were farming people who were amazingly kind to my grandparents and to us her grandchildren .
Life was different then but it was nice to see Lady Berwick from time to time who always gave us children a wave as she drove by .
