"Any man's death diminishes me
Because I'm involved in the mankind"
Such a searingly real poetry...more so, in the harrowing times of pandemic which has united the people of the world.. underscoring the much valued inter-dependence ! The arrogance of power n wealth... the pride of fame n glory evaporates in the larger scheme of the universe. Each individual is precious n integral to the resplendence of mankind..
Thanks for the upload!

Donne was an Anglican priest and this poem was originally part of a sermon he preached at St. Paul's cathedral in London.

I remember having to learn this poem in 4th grade for a kids Mensa project. When I preformed it in front of the entire fourth grade class I wept, as this poem meant so much to me. Even though it meant so little to the other kids in my class. I’ve never told my parents that story. So here YouTube.

Wow. Deep and beautiful poem.
Indeed we're all connected, not only to humans, but to the entire universe

This poem has a lot of meaning and good morals in it, but with this music and the voice... It just makes this poem mean much more than just a random poem with a random meaning. Whoever does not understand what the poem means... I feel sad for him or her because (again) this poem has a great "lesson" in it that is a 100% true.💗

I just finished Ernest Hemingway's For Whom The Bell Tolls, about 4 days ago, then this appears in my recommendations. Great book, on top that the poem is great too.

A couple of friends and I were talking about music and what songs give us goosebumps. I mentioned that poetry causes the same reaction, and remembered this poem. This poem is one of the first times I remember getting goosebumps. "It tolls for thee" has also been known to choke me up if I'm an a melancholy state of mind. Such a beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing this.
