I’m in north Georgia, around the start of the Appalachian Mountains. My neighbors, who are also my aunt+uncle+cousin, have this all in a gulley in their backyard. I grew up chilling in their backyard, digging for “diamonds” under the leaves and dirt on the top side of a drop-off at the back of their property. Once I showed them what I had found, they took one of those mini diggers and pulled out some impressive clusters of these. Some are bigger than soccer and small beach balls with rough bases and clusters of several prisms in a bouquet angling out of the top. They are absolutely stunning. They use them to decorate their walkways and flower beds. My kids are mesmerized by them 🥰🤩

I NEED to pick up this hobby! Ive lived collecting rocks and stones since I was 10 years old and wanted to become an archeologist or geologist at that age. I went off to achieve ither degrees in science but I get so excited when I see lay-people enjoying this kind of discoveries.
