I love this scene so much. I love how in this one little dialogue-less scene you can see Vito Corleone's old-world manners, and that he really does live by the old-school chivalry he espouses ("A man that doesn't spend time with his family could never be a real man.") He's so courtly and elegant as he dances with his little girl on her wedding day, and this is the last time this family is truly whole and happy. So bittersweet.

In an interview, Talia Shire said that she was so nervous, that it was surreal to be dancing with Marlon Brando. She said even with the makeup (to make him look older), that he was a really handsome man, and he was so nice to her. While they were dancing, they were talking. He told her she was beautiful in the wedding gown. She instinctively hugged him. It wasn’t in the script, and they left it in. She said that’s one thing that she will cherish for the rest of her life

Watching this scene i forget that the family are in the Mafia. Also I never normally like it in films where the soundtrack is played in the story but in this case I will make an acception.

What a beautiful scene. Father dancing with daughter. A masterpiece. I like how Brando touches boy's cheek when they go on a stage. Little detail but it's so beautiful.

Francis Ford Coppola originally planned to open the film with the wedding, immediately introducing all the characters. Then a friend pointed out how interestingly he had written the opening scene of Patton (1970). Coppola then re-wrote the opening with the Bonasera scene.

The sad part, being that had Vito not die, he'd have been able to set Michael straight and even help him with the problems between Kay and him.
