whenever I got to pack a punch there was gate in front of it and the exit had a gate as well so I was trapped with no where to go and unable to pack a punch

For me the PAP was blocked off and I eventually died because I ran out of ammo...

You can get wings, apparently. They let you skip the use of the Dragon and teleporting straight there.
