I am 74... I wear what makes me feel good, physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. I decided long ago to dress to please myself and not worry about what others think. I chose my own style having come to realize trying to please others or being concerned about what other people think keeps me from being authentic; life is too short to seek out and follow trends that in the long run are not going to give me the value I already have. Life is more fun once we make the determination to free ourselves from what others consider to be of value when it might not serve our hearts desire in the long run. However I can appreciate the need others have with regard to how they look to others when they're in the their 40s 50s or 60s even though I was preserved from having that mind battle myself.

Not every woman makes it to "old lady." OLD is not a disease it's a BLESSING.

I pay no attention to the aging shaming .... I have earned the right to wear what ever I feel like putting on. Of course I like to look good, but I only care if clothing fits well and makes me happy.

What matters to me personally is my health and my heart and soul. It’s great if people are looking for advice about what to wear or not wear. But being in my mid 60’s, I just want to wear what’s comfortable to me and not worry about what others are thinking or saying.

My parents always looked amazing. I am 70, so I saw them wear Mad Men type outfits. I have one picture of my Mom in opera length gloves, a turban, a dress and hose and pumps and that was a daytime shopping trip. My Dad wore fabulous suits, custom shirts and alligator shoes. My style icons.

I still love turtle necks for the winter and I'm wearing one today.

I am an octogenarian. I still wear my college days' clothes. T-shirts jeans, blouses & skirts, dresses. I recycle them as l roam in this wilderness for 50 years. Still can fit in nicely. No barebacks, as l tailor my own clothes so l know how much material l need. Money l saved for retirement. Already 17 years into full retirement. Looking ahead for more. Life is fun. YouTube is so entertaining. No time to be lonely.

I’m very proud that I’ve officially reached old lady status. I’ve grown in my silver streaked salt and pepper hair, and became a grandmother. But I try not to dress like one. I wear whatever I want while paying closest attention to proportions and fabric quality.

I am 63, and I don't mind being called 'old'. 'Old' is fine because I earned it, hard work over the decades. I have embraced my grey hairs 3 years ago, keeping a promise I made to myself, that I would stop colouring my hair when they are more than 50% grey. I remembered in my 20s, thinking people over 40s are old. 😂 So, those seasons have turned and now, I gracefully accept it's my turn. To me, I want to redefine 'old'. My body is still relatively trim, arms fairly toned, due to daily 3 hours of exercises of walking, weights and yoga. I try to be benevolent about most things, unlike my firecracker days. So, old is good.
Thanks for your tips. I will try to put into practice. 🌹

This is your personal opinion, I believe you wear anything you want. Who cares? You getting older is fine. Love it, love it. There is nothing wrong with being and older woman. It's wonderful.

After reading some comments: here's my deal- I'm 70, retired from my career last year and am now pouring previous energy into what I want to do now. Hopefully I have long since stopped caring what the hip trends are, but know what makes me happy and feel good to wear. HOWEVER I love learning and this is so helpful with information that I find positive and good to know. Thank you so much for putting this together! Valuable insights with info that anyone can use (or NOT use.) I was used to doing a lot of research myself with my job so I appreciate your work and presentation.

Why should I care about what 20 years old kids think about my clothes?!

You are absolutely correct! My mother was so pretty and always took pride in her appearance. She got compliments wherever she went, but that was not her intent. She was just a very classy lady! And I try to also take care of myself and dress as if I like myself. Love your channel. ❤

I wear turtlenecks. I have a dozen cashmere turtlenecks and many more in other materials. It gets to -30° F here in the winter, and I start wearing them as soon as the temperature hits freezing at night. I'm 68, for reference. Honestly, my fashion icon from 20 years ago was a white-haired lady who lived on my street; I never saw her in anything but a black turtleneck and black pants, and she looked fabulous. Another thing I'll never give up are my tweed jackets, but none of them are that Chanel style tweed. Most of them are very subtle herringbone blazers. I honestly don't care if people think I'm old - I am! In fact, I wish people would take me for the age I am, since they usually think I'm in my 40s. I have an old body, feeling it 24/7, and it irks me when people expect me to do things that I could do 20 years ago, but now it's just not happening.

I’m 60. I almost exclusively wear Zara. There are lots of exceptions to your suggestions. There are some beautiful matching tops and bottoms and skirt suits in right now. MIDI and Maxi skirts or dresses can look very stylish. I spend a lot of time in Europe and women there are so stylish and break most of your rules. THe women look amazing. They also tend to be thinner than Americans which makes a huge difference. I usually check with my 30yr old daughter to see if something looks good or bad on me. So far, she approves. I’ll never dress “my age” as long as I have an option.

I think it’s about how you are raised. The women in my family were always wearing the latest fashions. My mom is 70 and she loves her sketchers and track suits . I am 50 and I just brought a suit my 23 year old niece just brought. We all look fabulous
