Two extraordinary compositions, by Poulenc and Martin, flawlessly offered up by two extraordinary masters of music, each brilliantly becoming one with their instruments, each giving forth with powerful expression of mind, movement, and moment. Maria Ollikainen draws magic from that piano, sometimes gently, sometimes with almost demonic determination and strength -- and always beautifully. As for Clara Andrada de la Calle, we are again witness to her tenacious intensity, her unending passion and expressiveness, her clear love of music, and her immaculate skill in bringing us into her world. Unlike any other, Andrada de la Calle causes her flute to dance so, so freely, unbridled, so that it and she can again take us on another magic carpet ride. Which she sure does here!
