Poet Joan McBreen, composer Glen Austin and the RTÉ ConTempo Quartet are collaborating on a new CD album, The Mountain Ash in Connemara, due for release in May 2014. The album combines poetry and music. The readings draw from four collections of Joan McBreen's poems and from new work.
The Mountain Ash in Connemara audio CD will feature the RTÉ Contempo Quartet performing a selection of original classical music compositions and arrangements of traditional Irish airs for string quartet by composer Glen Austin. This music will be interspersed with selected poems read by Joan McBreen.
The original compositions and arrangements were recorded by the RTÉ Contempo Quartet at Sun Street Studios, Tuam, County Galway, by highly regarded sound engineer, Kenny Ralph. The videos were shot and edited by Stephen Cassidy and produced and edited by Glen Austin.
