Former leader of the Conservative Party Lord Hague has told Sky's Kay Burley he will miss John Prescott "a lot".

He said the former deputy prime minister was a "politician you could have a good laugh and friendly conversation with, even though you knew at the next Question Time you'd be giving each other hell."

Nice to see politicians from different parties being nice and respectful to each other 👏👏👍 credit to Hague

John Prescott was instrumental in negotiating the 1997 Kyoto Protocol on climate change. He brought two factions of the Labour Party together, and had he not, it would have been unelectable. He called out injustice frequently. He was not perfect, but achieved more than me or the many keyboard-warriors. He will be missed.

When socialism stood for economic progressive fairness and not student politics and politicians with broken logic driven by deceit, lies and egotism.

Lord Prescott….. one of the last true political leaders, that truly had a voice for good….. love him…hate him…. what a magnificent people’s person… RIP to a great man…. I’ve never voted Labour…. never will, but respect the man and his convictions… Britain… could do with his wisdom right now.

I always felt he was an angry, bitter man with a chip on his shoulder. Otherwise, RIP J P.
