Queen’s Bath - Pool of Death, Kauai, Hawaii

“Queen’s Bath” is located on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, USA. It is a unique tidal pool surrounded by igneous rock. It is a brilliant turquoise pool fed by seawater spilling over the enriching lava rocks. But unprecedented tides and water currents transform this swimming hole into a potential death trap. This pool is named after Queen Emma who was the mother of Prince Albert.

“Pool of death” is an inlet, located just before the Queen’sBath. It is a popular spot for tourists and locals for swimming and jumping off the ledge. It is even more dangerous than Queen’s bath to be in here because of massive turbulence.

Even standing on the rocks in this area can be fatal as a sudden unprecedented wave can sweep someone away into the sea. It has happened in the past and in some cases, bodies were not recovered.

This video is of an August morning which was partly cloudy so the bright blue or green color of the pacific has not come in the video. It has information about the trail, some pictures, and video of the “Pool of Death” waves.
