This New CHRISTIAN MOVIE is INSANE!!

The newest film from Angel Studio's, The Shift, was just released, and I was fortunate enough to be invited to the red carpet premiere this week to give you a review on it. Here are my honest thoughts on the film!

My 23 yo daughter and I just saw this tonight. We both thought it was fantastic. I think she and I have in common that we are both pretty good at suspending disbelief to get into movies. So going in, not knowing much, but that it was supposedly based on Job or maybe just "loosely based" on the book of Job we were able to just roll with all the differences and appreciate a really great good vs evil storyline with a lot of interesting takes and surprises. I loved their use of lines of scripture, very evocative, very effective!

My wife and I saw it last night. We don't go see movies often since Hollywood puts out so much garbage these days. We enjoyed the movie. Lots of action and the acting was excellent. Their low budget was detectable but not in a way that negatively affected the storyline. I give it a solid B+. I hope everyone will support these types of films so we will continue to have alternatives!!

I loved the movie! I’ve been following Angel Studios as they promoted and previewed the movie for many months, so I was anxious to see it. I was like you, there was no time when I wasn’t completely captured by what was happening. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to see it again soon.

The reason it felt loosely inspired by Job is because it was. It wasn't meant to be a direct correlation to Job. The writer/director was addressing suffering using Job. This is because Job helped him get through some tragedies he faced in his own life. Though, I agree that you shouldn't have to know that information in advance. I can see why most would have made a similar correlation as you.

I loved the message. you are a true believer. While a lil more than half of the people that I've watched would kinda puff a person up. While talking about THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY here and there. But I stop listening to these professed prophets on YouTube. I listen more to a person when they are BIBLICAL and not just right on, but we have the HOLY SPIRIT. That zealousness for knowing HIM and an eager follower and want to get closer to THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. Talking about abiding instead of how your a rockstar for JESUS. I think that's not right. We should be talking about knowing GOD more intametly. Glorifying JESUS CHRIST. To love as HE commanded us to love one another.

Big budget does not equal high quality entertainment. As Hollywood has been proving to us more and more lately.

I would love to see it unfortunately a mini theaters around me aren't showing it

This film's quality was all over the place. The special effects and action sequences were excellent, but the parts inbetween often dragged, due to an overabundance of unnecessary flashbacks that would have been better as more linear storytelling. Don't get me wrong; this is a far better film than many overtly Christian ones that have come before. However, there were some serious pacing problems, especially with the beginning. A flashback AND a voiceover to start the film? The two biggest Hollywood no-nos in one place! "Show, don't tell" was clearly missing from this plot.
