What can be said? In 2001 I watched Ken Burns' Jazz doc and i was transfixed. Watched the whole thing again and again. All year and the next. My mom recorded many movies from TCM on VHS tapes and 'Round Midnight was one of the 100s. My goodness, I cant tell you what a consummation it was. My love of Jazz became a marriage. Eternal. I felt that I truly understood what jazz is. I felt a soul unity with its masters and players. It was a magical time and now, 20 years later, I'm getting married to a great woman named Gina and she shares this mystical love of jazz with me. Thank you Ken, thank you Bird, thank you Satchmo, thank you Duke and all of the rest of you. You know who you are. I love you and the fans of you. Much love, G-bird!
