Coexisting With Busy Beavers at the Cornell Lab

In recent years, beavers have taken up residence in Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary, home to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, New York. Beaver activity on Sapsucker Woods Pond has caused some problems, so we turned to Beaver Solutions LLC to help us tackle the issue. The device installed in the pond will allow us to coexist peacefully with the beavers!

Very cool. I did not know things like this existed. Glad the problem can be solved without harming the beavers.

Fabulous video! Wish you were able to go into a little more depth of the mechanics of the Pond Leveler solution, as well as the draw of the Beavers to the Sapsucker Woods Pond area!
Very much appreciate the video! Thanks, Cornell and all involved.

One of the joys of Cornell Lab are the various webcams that they sponsor/encourage all over; I've watched red tailed hawks, herons, ospreys, owls, eagles, albatross' - from warm comfort of home and to delight of my cats! Birds are, quite literally, the 'canary' in the coal mine of what we are doing to our world in terms of habitat; no birds is bad for all living things. Thank you, Rachel Carson, author of "Silent Spring" decades ago, who called our attention to the ecological link and helped to start what Cornell Lab has so wonderfully encouraged...preservation, education and the delight of living creatures. Continue the good work for many decades...Bouquets to all who dedicate their lives to saving our planet and its creatures...

I get so excited whenever I see any of my local beavers. So immensely sad the way they were wiped out. I think we should celebrate each and every one and absolutely find a way to coexist with them, and educate the general public. People's temporal homes are not more important than a species right to exist.

A non-violent way to co-exist with beavers! I love it.

Truly good to see us (humans) giving it our best to co-exist in harmony with other life forms. Maybe some kinks still to be worked out (protecting the trees, yet allowing for beavers' need to eat)... but what a great direction to take, as opposed to killing and poisoning and all the other barbaric approaches our kind has taken, and still takes, so much of the time, on so much of the planet. Thanks, Cornell--for ALL your good work. May others go and do likewise.

WIn-win solution! Now tell me how to discourage the skunk family living under my dining room!

That solves the damming problem. But what about the tree damage? What do they do to keep the trees safe and yet keep the beavers from going hungry?
