Even in Assam people celebrate this when a girl get her first period...it's a marriage without groom called as "santi biya/tuloni biya".. people are being invited and they give gifts and blessings to the girl.

I was not shocked on my periods. I was in the end of 8 class when I got my periods . I knew, I was told about it in my school. In fact, I also told my father about it because I don't have a mother . Now it is not possible that any girl does not know about this.

I literally knew everything about periods before I got them, and still the morning I got them I started crying, and istill don't know why??!!😂😂 Like there is no fucking reason for me to cry, I knew exactly what that was, but still I cried non stop!!

Actually, I got my first periods when I was in 9th standard, and all my friends gave gyaan that it will be like blood. My visualization was that blood means red color. But first time periods, the color is a mix of red & more black, so i didn't pay much attention. Later, on day 2, it started spreading across. I still didn't know and washed my school uniform on assumption that some sabzi might have fallen back. That evening, my parents observed & stated its periods and gave sanitary napkin. I was still not confident as color was black, not red. Eventually, after a few months, the color changes to red.
My parents also performed pooja and gave gift ie gold ring & gold chain with pendant.

When I got my first period, my mother told me that don't tell anyone.. it is a very bad thing that is happening with me.. i still remember her eyes - it was like, i m not a pure person (like prostitutes - as her example), and also she told me to do not tell anyone.. not even my friends... After some time, i had experienced multiple incidents regarding period! i was so scared and felt so insecure that still i have that trauma! After a long time, i know that actually she is a narcissist person! My trauma is so strong that it haunts me still now!!!

I thought "I have cancer" and gonna die within a year 😂
Then I called my mom (because everyone went to the matket and I was alone) told her that
Me : Mom I'm bleeding from that area.
Mom: Are you ok ? Do any part or whole body is paining?
Me: Till now, no.
Mom: Ok sit quietly on the chair and don't roam around.
Me : Ok
Mom: *in hurry* I'm coming within a minute.Just wait for me .
Me : Ok . Is it dange ---- !!! *she cut the call cause she was in hurry*
And my empty head started to think that I'm goona die today and not within a year that's why she (my mom) told me not to roam around 🥹 .I started mummering I'm not goona cry and leave everyone happily and I was so thankful for my parents and friends at that moment, at that time! 😂😂

In Tamilnadu also its celebrates in a grand way, one of my Tamil friend invited lots of people and I saw very nice celebration with relatives, neighbour like daughter's marriage, haldi ceremony, gold ornaments, new sarri, gift very nice vej food, really We loved the function ❤

I was in govt school n hamare school me 7 standard whisper wale aaye the.. n they explained everything to us.. how to use pad, y dis is happening n all.. so I think it was a very nice initiative it shud be done in all d school .
