Way better than what my professor taught

I am not an English native speaker, though I know what "floor" means, which: "The lower surface of a room, on which one may walk.", so it is obvious it has a direct relation with the mathematical definition of floor function. Then I asked, is there some simulation with the "ceiling function", because I don't know what "ceil" means in English, and when I did a search, I found that "Line or plaster the roof of (a building).", which beautifully perfect,
I will never be confused with those terms or with those both functions,

I will imagine myself in a vertical axe, like the Y axe in the X-Y axes.
floor : looking down to the nearest "ground floor", which mean the nearest integer
ceiling : looking up to the nearest roof.

Can you add an exercise where we find the range and domain of the given function for example how do we solve such exercise: The function that assigns to each pair of positive integers the maximum of these two
integers.(find the function, domain and range)

How would you format the solution of the last question? f(s) = {0, 2, 4}?

Wouldn't the floor function of "2 " be "1"
