Brake Pads Replacement - Jetson Bolt Pro (Folding Electric Bike From Costco) 2021

This is a step by step tutorial of how to replace brake pads on a Jetson Bolt Pro (folding electric bike from Costco). This tutorial should work for all bikes with a disk brake and BB5 pads.

Thanks for this helpful video. Unfortunately, it seems they changed the tolerance on calipers on newer Bolt Pro models, and made the diameter 1-2mm smaller. No BB5 pads I’ve purchased will fit (not even the Corki ones you pictured at the start of the vid). So when you try to put your first pad in and move it up and out of the way (like what you show at 8:24), it won’t go up — and so the 2nd pad can’t even be slotted in.

The only option I’ve seen is to grind about 1-1.5mm off of the backing plate.

I’m not sure why there’s a discrepancy between older and newer models, but Jetson won’t respond to any of my support requests.

After doing a pad swap and fluid flush on my hydraulic disk brakes (shimano) this brings be back to the simple BMX bike fixes... miss those days. Granted I have stripped down all my bikes to bare frame and built custom built about 5 bikes over time so most repairs seem easy by comparison. Great video!

Bought 2 of these because of you! Love it. We can’t stop risking it every chance we get! When new, the range was around 10 miles. After breaking in the battery, we are seeing better range now or it could be the warmer weather.. keep up the good work!
