Why did Ben never scan Vilgax?

I just assumed it was because Vilgax was mutated and his dna wasn’t in it’s original form

My head canon, that species dna was already in the omnitirx just not unlocked yet therefore there was no need to scan a sample

While I do believe the Omnitrix never scanned Vilgax because Chimera Sui Generis DNA was already inside it (which makes sense, with Myaxx wanting at least some type of credit and recognition for helping with its creation),
I don't really buy that the power surge somehow removed DNA from it, if it couldn't even remove it from Ben successfully.

I rather believe it just wasn't unlocked yet, like all of Ben's new aliens he gets overtime, along with the rest of the 10.000. And the Chimera Sui Generis DNA just wasn't one of those that were unlocked during the run of the main series.

I always thought that Vilgax's DNA was always in the Omnitrix and Ben just hadn't unlocked him in his playlist like the million other aliens.

I had always assumed that due to Vilgaxes cybernetics and genetic modification the omnitrix cannot scan him since he has impure DNA

I always thought it was a psychological thing, even if young ben unlocked the transformation he might not want to use it because it would remind him too much of Vilgax and he might even be scared another Ghostfreak incident happens with the DNA

I think there's a simpler explination:Vilgax's DNA is in the omnitrix, it just exists on a different playlist. The reason he scanned the werewolf for example is because the omnitrix didn't have that DNA at all. Ben's omnitrix doesn't scan every new alien ben met (Rook is a good example) because the DNA is already stored on Primus, just not in Ben's playlist

I think in Ultimate Alien it was self explanatory when Vilgax asked Ben to save his planet from ghostfreak, he stated his home world is full of innocent women and children and aren’t warriors like he was seeing that Vilgax would technically be the male peak of his species as the omnitrix automatically transforms Ben into it wouldn’t hold any advantages since Vilgax has a bunch of weapons, perks and technology to his disposal he’s technically a mutant version of his own species on steroids so it be useless to transform into Villgax unless Ben needed to fight underwater

I mean in the show when they had creator notes I’m pretty sure there was a note that said he does become a “sweet vilgax “ in Ben’s words

He literally didn't kno about sample mode the first time theu fought. After that im not sure why he never scanned him; maybe because wolf, snare-o, amd Franken-strike all accidentally enabled it

The most straightforward explanations to me would either be the random unlocks he gets in the series just never ended up being a Vilgax. In the case of not having a sample, that requires Ben to not be transformed to my knowledge and even if it's a few seconds, a few seconds next to Vilgax without being able to transform for self defense is still ambitious.

Alright a couple things:

First, at this point in continuity the Omnitrix stores DNA on the planet Primus, not in the watch itself.

Second, it was confirmed that in the case of the aliens Ben ‘scanned’ in the original series, he wasn’t adding new DNA to the Omnitrix, it was just unlocking already existing transformations, supported by the fact that Azmuth/Myaxx would’ve had to go to Annur Transyl to get an ectonurite sample, why would they pass up grabbing samples from the other sentient races of that system, which all live on the same planet?

So, what this should more likely mean is either, the shock caused a glitch in the Omnitrix that didn’t allow it to load up Chimera Sui Generis DNA, or the shock just prevented that transformation from being unlocked. Likely the first one, as Ben encounters Vilgax several times after that and it never tries any DNA retrieval like with the Andromeda aliens or Lord Transyl. These encounters with Vilgax are ALSO including after the Omnitrix was replaced at the end of Ultimate Alien and such an issue would’ve been fixed.

My headcannon has been in classic the Omnitrix could only get new DNA samples by psychical touch and classic Villygax had his hands replaced. During UAF when the Omnitrix gained the long distance scan Villy showed up as an error since he had gone around absorbing 10 alien champions so his DNA was polluted

Writers didn’t think of it until later on they changed some of the way the Omnitrix can be used anyways
