One of the biggest problems facing drummers today is that they are so overwhelmed by all the online lessons, videos and content that can be hard to know what to practice.

And this is a great concept that all drummers of all levels can do.
Think back to the last few rehearsals or shows you had. What were your biggest musical and drumming challenges? Did you speed up during fills? Were your samples/electronics working properly? Were you playing too loudly? Was no one in the audience moving along to your groove?

As Mark says, one of the most effective ways to become a better musician and a more musical player is to learn from the musical situations you find yourself in.

This mental exercise is great to figure out what you need to work that will help you become more expressive in musical situations, not just alone in the practice room.

In my learning in order to improve practice anything's your weak in, these are often areas you hate or just avoid yet you know that if your honest that these hard areas won't change unless you practice hard and then some more until breakthrough comes then your reward is joy and it propels you(well it does for me).

It's always great to take some lessons starting off, but it is also great to take a dozen lessons every few years no matter how long I've played.
