In this video I compare them head to head and the winner, well it surprised me and I'm sure it will surprise you too. Plus there is Myth about South Carolina floating around out there that I think is being perpetuated by our Northern Cousins....hmmmm

Thank you for the info.
I wish you could have gotten into the flood factor differences between the North and South.

I spent five years in SC and 22 in NC. I am back to SC for retirement. NC is beautiful but the allergens terrible and it's getting so expensive, it has priced me out of the rental market. I also find the people in SC much kinder, more polite and more friendly by a long shot. Plus the tax benefits are so much better for retirees. I am surprised that wasn't mentioned. BT

I was born in Beaufort South Carolina and miss it like crazy. I’ve got no friends here and no family for some reason nobody likes me? I guess being nice to people isn’t a thing here where I’m at I’ve been nothing but nice. And I did subscribe before? It must have un subscribed me before.

We moved from Mississippi to SC 20 years ago and love it here. SC is s Republican state. NC is democrat state. Gas is always higher in NC. They say SC is number 3 to highest states people are moving to.

We agree, we wanted to retire in SC. We have family in Beaufort and Bluffton. However we crossed SC and NC off our list as neither allows betting on horse racing. And horse racing is our thing. So also no GA, probably retiring to Florida in 2-3 years.

For military retirees, N.C. does not tax military retirement income, S.C. taxes it to the tune of 7%. Just FYI.

When visiting Charleston, SC one summer, I was driving down a rural road and saw a car stop down the road. The passenger door opened and the person dragged road kill into the car. Never seen that before. Charleston has many historical plantations and I would recommend spending the weekend at one. The Inn at Middleton Place was an excellent immersion into a time gone by. The scale of the property (63, 000 acres and 3, 500 slaves) during the civil war is hard to wrap your mind around.

No big surprise. I live in NC and prefer SC as a much better place to live. North Carolina is fast becoming what most Northerners are trying to get away from.

North Carolina's beautiful cities: Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington, Asheville. NC higher education: UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, Wake Forest, NC State, Meredith, Elon University. NC recreation: beaches AND mountains. Roads are so much better than SC, ditto for health care. Wait a minute, what am I saying? On second thought SC is much better. You should move there, LOL!!!

We aren't coastal people so the NC Mountains is what we love in every season. We've looked at other states but we're staying right here.

I’ve already bought my house in Columbia SC. Will be moving in two months and can’t wait.

Having lived in GA, FL and NC, and only visited and driven through SC my biggest gripe about SC is the roads. They REEK. Up the taxes just a little and fix them and I might consider it.

It would be so much clearer if you made simple comparison charts so the viewer could see the comparisons side by side instead of you rattling off numbers.

I was seriously thinking about retiring in North Carolina, but after hearing from you, I think I would rather retire in South Carolina instead. As a senior, I'm trying to avoid things like: a lot a congested traffic, overly expensive housing, and allergens. I'm going to check out South

Charts/tables are needed to track and compare all the numbers you are throwing at us. The information might be useful but the delivery was hard to follow without these charts and tables.

South Carolina is much warmer and friendlier than NC. I`ve lived many years in both states.

Charleston is a fabulous place to retire if money is no object. Love the City but it’s expensive.

SC! Greenville to be more specific. It's on our radar.
