Speed’s Test for Biceps Tendonitis - Ask Doctor Jo

Показать описание

To perform the Speed's Test, place your fingers on the bicipital groove. Resist shoulder flexion at about 90 degrees by the patient while the patient’s forearm is first supinated, then pronated, and the elbow is in complete extension. A positive test increases pain/tenderness in the bicipital groove, especially when supinated.

My tendon doesn't hurt, but it's constantly coming out of the groove, especially during overhead pressing.

I have frozen shoulder. I also have bicep tendon pain when raising my arm to 90 degrees. Does frozen shoulder cause pain in bicep tendon or do I have a bicep tendon tear?

Hey! I have bicep tendonitis but I can do overhead presses without any pain or movement restriction. Should I continue doing it? I only experience pain in lateral and front raises, and sometimes in bench press.
I just started working out and don't want to stop now. I was thinking that I should continue with overhead presses since I have no pain in these movement. So, what do you think?

Hi jo . Great video 😁 I don’t have any major pain in my bicep ..just mostly a tightness when the arm is flexed and shoulder aches on occasion. It’s been like that for a couple months. The tightness is pretty horrible….combined with the shoulder aching when I use the arm etc. What’s your advice mate ? It’s been like this since end of April. (do play football/soccer and work in heavy lifting so probably doesn’t help haha)

Hi Dr Jo, love your video's!
I am a bit confused by this one though, as I was of the belief the "Speed's Test" was resisted shoulder flexion with forearm fully supernated followed by forearm being fully pronated. Could indicated LHBT pathology or "slap lession". Is your test something you have modified over time?

what if the tendon that hurts is my shirt head tendon?
