“When my shoeshine boy starts offering stock tips, it’s time to get out of the market.” Had this experience before the last bubble bursted, not with shoeshine boys but with my friends who went to med school. They started speculating on stocks, were excited here and there about this and that. They don't know anything about financial statements, accounting, interest rates, bonds, or anything, but they were trading options like they were in the roulette table. I thought of the shoeshine boy, I sold and placed it on value, still lost a bit (on paper) but not as much as they did which were real loses.

It’s funny seeing a hedge fund manager talk so highly about Buffet who pretty much calls hedge funds a ripoff: can’t outperform index funds and charge stupid management fees even if the investment underperforms.

my favorite WB bit. Last year's letter to shareholders he discussed the Cola investment. They stopped buying more shares 30 years ago when the position hit $1.5 billion. WB said they're rationale was that the average human consumed 65 ounces of fluids a day. about 17% of that was soft drinks. One company owns about half that. So we bought that one. Basically every day a human hydrates himself Berkshire's shareholders get paid. That position is now worth over $27 bilion and the dividend recovers the initial investment every 3 years. how complicated was that....

I’d say investors a lot of times also own company’s as well who employ people and also then provide products for our markets for example Elons assets are completely stock shares meanwhile he creates space rockets flame throwers and media platforms to help Americans I’d say with all the jobs he pays out in America where grateful for his investments !
