When I read that averages are going to be distinct but the sum will be same, I used the magic square formula. I drew a sample square on the side. It helped me decipher that if a box has an average of 9, the average of other 2 boxes in that row/column can only be either 1 and 5 or 2 and 4. It helped me narrow down the pairs. That helped me solve the numbers much faster. Although, that didn't occur to me in the actual CAT exam, only ocurred to me now when I actually read the question, rather than just breezing through it. A very good question.

How can score be 9 if it is mentioned that balls are between 1 and 9?

18:05 score should be 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. 1 and 9 are not inclusive. Then how chaturs max score is 9 ?

Sir why each box sum has to be multiple of 3?

Why in the 3rd set the increase in two consecutive years same as for A same as it it clearly written the no two consecutive years have same increase or decrease !!!

As if we put 216, both the conditions are satisfied !

There are nine boxes in two tables that means 9 +9 = 18 boxes why dont you see like that?
