I have the same problem. Removed the toe and cut a space for my big toe. A heat gun on low is your friend. Gets that glue soft so the process of removing the steel toe is much easier.

Do EXACTLY as this video but first douse the inside of the shoe in rubbing alcohol and let it sit for a couple of minutes. The fabric will almost peel off by tufts, exposing the steel toe starting point (you can feel it). I used a hammer to give the point of the boot a few hits from the outside to loosen the steel toe, then stuck my hand inside the boot and plucked it out. You will be a pro by the time you get to the second boot.

Same case with some Dunlop work shoes I got recently, I hadn't factored in the fact that steel toe cap boots are a NIGHTMARE to wear for prolonged periods because they destroy my big toe and almost have no feeling by the end of my shift. Thanks for showing this is possible, I'll give it a whirl because they're pretty useless to me as well with those nasty narrow caps inside.

I'm going to try this. I also have sketchers steel toe work boots. I'm a waitress, so I only wanted slip resistant quality boots. The steel toe is heavy and hurts my knees after a few hours. I don't have "phat" feet, yet I can feel where the steel starts, and it's not comfortable. Every video I have watched on a removal, the actual steel part is flat. Not slanted for where our toes meet our foot. A larger size will just cause our heels to rise out of the boot. The steel insert is still flat on top. One side actual digs like it is bent on mine. You are the first person I have seen to remove them from the inside. Which makes more sense in my mind. Padding the inside vrs sewing the outside seems like a no Brainer. It's worth a try. At this point, I can't even wear them.

I have the same problem I tried multiple brands multiple sizes up to 2 sizes up just too narrow. Im size UK8 and impossible to find boots. The only pair that fit me in my size Skechers trophus but they are very heavy but nice and wide.

Can be done, removed the steel toe from my new Wolverine boots. Used a dremel to remove the fabric shrouding the upper inside of the steel insert, so I could get the needle nose vice grips on the steel. Used a rubber mallet to loosen the insert. After considerable wrestling, the toe came out after the plastic retainer strip gave up. I also chucked the insert in the vice to make it narrower, but these inserts are tough.

How do you cut the material? How do you open the material in the shoe? Like upside down and backwards. I need to know how you got in there and cut it

Thks for sharing. Its really a pain to wear steel toe or composite toe safety shoes/boots. And they are expensive. Its frustrating to buy them as shop doesn't let one try wearing them to test them out. Its really a shame coz these shoes suppose to be work shoes but the pain is hard to work with these shoes. It take a toll on the feet with the pain. I can't understand billions dollars industry in these shoe and they can't even get the design correct. Why can't the stop making narrow design in the front. I wonder if the people that design and makes these shoe do really wear them or not. How the heck they can sell them. I wonder? Its hard to find a wider front toe design shoe.
