Subframe connectors, rear suspension fix, 5-lug/4 wheel disc conversion, upgraded struts/shocks, steeper rear gears: Now you're ready to swap in the Coyote.

You nailed it on every point. I’m just starting my F100 coyote swap. There is a lot but at least I know I’ve covered all of the bases you just described. GEN 2 6R80.

I’ve been wanting to coyote swap my 70 cougar but I’m trying to find a wrecked mustang because I plan on doing a sort of resto mod.

I hadn't realize you planned to swap to the gen 2 motor at some point. Good points all, and I remember you debating with the engine bay early on. It was definitely a good choice to do it then.

You may have helped me in deciding to stick with the rebuild of another 351 windsor...(came in my used 1989 convertible) ... I had the car for 6 years. Drove it for 2 months. Has sat since the motor overrevved...

Then I responded to an ad for a mechanic that could rebuild my motor ....it has been a while and I have not been communicated with as far as what needs to be replaced. I bought the car wanting to replace the top (I used to do these prior) ...the top never got replaced cuz money went to groceries...

So the car sits with no motor...i wanna get this car running with a new top and stereo ....but it has been a bunch of setbacks.

I'm regretting buying this car now cuz I have 10 grand in a car that just sits.

That being said... I will eventually get this thing together...

Thanks for sharing your experience!

This might be asking a lot, but it would be nice if you made a parts list and at the time of purchase prices for every thing that has been done so far.

I echo those brake sentiments so much.
I had a lightly modded (3.73's, BBK cold air, BBK TB, Mac catback, underdrives)1990 GT hatch in Germany when stationed there.
You get it out on the autobahn (A6and A7 freizones for me) and you learn several things.

#1. German cars are geared better for autobahn pulls. Even if they have the same amount of power, our "acceleration-focused" gearing and comparatively short freeway onramps here in the states necessitate different gearing, they will pull on you by just having longer legs on the top end.

#2. You can literally cook 1979-1993 Fox Body brakes with ONE SERIOUS STOP from ~150mph around a long sweeping corner, into a "stau" ("traffic stoppage on the autobahn"), or when a little Fiat Punto pulls out from in front of a big-rig while you're cooking along @ 130mph in the left lane.

Oddly, the drums always seemed to cool down and "work" (used loosely, as that's how they function stock), but I can tell you for sure I had to go to on-post auto parts store probably 4 times to order brakes from the US, driving around on warped rotors for about a week at a time.

They're so god-awfully bad.

You should make a video about the realistic cost of total swap, I’ve been told $15, 000 is a happy medium of where u will be when it’s done and that’s if u do 95% yourself.

The words "budget" and "engine swap" are mutually exclusive. :)

I swapped a 427 Windsor into my 2012, and have spent in excess of $30k just on power train parts.

I understand the appeal of doing a Coyote swap, the engines make great power and it's a great place to start for future mods. And when they're done right they look and run great. But given the cost and headache involved I'll stick with old school pushrod V8s. You can meet or excede coyote #s with a power adder or stroker build.

Great information! I learned a couple of things that I will keep in mind when I swap an EcoBoost into mine (eventually).

Really considering doing a coyote swap on a 97 tbird. Sucks hardly anyone does them but that's why I want to in the first place lol thanks for the tips

Great informative video. If I had the donor car and the donor engine, roughly what's the cost for a quality conversion to put them together... All in, soup to nuts, wiring, parts, etc. Automatic 10R80 or Tremec 6spd. All in.

That engine bay looks fantastic man especially with the coyote sitting in there. Real sharp, Great job. Did the same thing with my Saleen build, getting the bay all smoothed out....man did that take forever but i think the end result will be well worth it. Swapping everything in from an 04 Cobra, should be fun when its done :)

Not all swaps require quicktime bellhousings. Later modular 4.6 tremec transmissions stock bellhousings will bolt up to coyote engines. It is only required for the fox T-5 transmissions.
