Got the skaha 2 in carbon fiber last week and...wow! Action is insane, blade slices like nobody's business. Great in hand and only 2.7 oz. Very unique piece that's hard to put down.

Gotta believe that it would slice better without the milling lines in the blade, just can't get past that.

I have one and like it. It's in my shrinking collection and I suspect will stick around. I agree on the clip and the flipper tab. I think both have been addressed in the new version, but I'm not sure (haven't seen one yet).

The TAD Dauntless mk4 also had a flattened detent ball. It made for smooth deployment but you could shake it out without any trouble. That may have been intentional since it was a "tactical" knife by design. The Skaha's price point is just north of where many people might buy at $180, but North Arm is a tiny shop and can't take advantage of volume material pricing. Love the idea of supporting a small, family run business, and if they tweak a few things on the Skaha, I'd gladly shell out the money to contribute to that wonderful tradition.

It's interesting that so many are talking about the value not being there. It's much cheaper than a custom or midtech and not really that much more than a similar massed produced knife. The weight, feel, and mechanism of the knife are awesome. The updates for the 2nd edition hit the only real complaints I have. It isn't the sexiest knife, but every time I carry it and use it I wonder to myself why I don't carry it more.

I was lucky enough to get the 2nd version. They sold out in about an hour. It should be here in a few weeks. I just wish they still had the dark red version...

I filed the detent on my Rat 2 lol, mainly because it messed it self up first so i had to.

if you take it apart and clean it out really good and just put a very very tiny drop of oil on the flat detent, the action will drop shut even better.

im waiting for the carbon fiber version which hopefully will see either late this year or next (assuming they have time then, but Gen2 is releasing next week and will undoubtedly delay that longer due to strong demand for this model).

best knife for the price, yet i see people complain that it costs too much, which is LOL when people complain about it. i mean its not a mass produced knife. its two guys making knives in Canada with a CNC and there two hands. sure its just G10, but its an amazing knife and well worth $200+ USA dollars. not to mention these are low production knives, meaning they should cost more. way more. haters gonna hate though.

Great overview. It seems like the flipper is changed in the new model too, I guess we will see if it fixes your issue with that aspect of the knife. Overall the V2 looks great. The new clip is going to be 100% better. I agree with your thoughts on the finger choil for accessing the lock, it needs to be repositioned or perhaps just made a big larger with some softer corners. Now to see if we're going to be able to order them...
