Vertex animation is common place in industry standard animation software, yet it seems to be overlooked.

SFM animators don't have access to it or probably don't know what uses it can have, so here's a clip of me explaining it!

For those using Maya there is a free plug in for the same function. It moves vertex as animation with influence to nearby verteces

but remember, sfm is the original tf2 animation, and nothing will ever compare to the memories it created

See, this is what I don’t get. Why the hell do people subject themselves to the horrible SFM engine when they have more control AND an easier time with something like blender? Valve isn’t even hosting the saxxys to incentivize people to use it anymore

I would actually take the time to learn animating on blender. Unfortunately I don't have enough time and am even having problems animating on SFM.

For me the shape keys weren’t working properly with those models and I wasn’t even able to edit the values of the shape keys

be sure not to overdo vertex meshing on humanoids, or else they're gonna end up looking mushy in the finished animation :D
