Cuba is probably the nastiest food I’ve ever tasted. The chicken is imported. The beef isn’t even available. Pork is used for “hamburgers” - This is from a Cuban American.

tell them about all the times u walked into restuarants and they ran out of food . thats what happen to me a bunch of times when i went to cuba . i had to survive off coffee lmfaoo

Many things must be considered when discussing cubas cost of living. Doctors don't make 5000 pessos ...officially they do unofficially with the bribery systems they pull $300-500 easy per month so as any other government officials.
Cost of living will depends where you want to leave and how (officially followings all the rules or same as locals)
With $1000 per person u can count on average life experience like minimum wage workers would live in Usa or Canada.
$2000 per month for family of 3 will get you everything for a high mid level or more depending where u live. However, consider ...electrical problems, water and garbage everywhere.
Otherwise you can get good quality of local pork, chicken and fish. Local beef is a problem.
