The Pioneer 10 probe goes silent

Pioneer 10 was the first mission to the planet Jupiter and carried the famous plaque designed to tell any extraterrestrials who might find the probe more about the species that created it…

Along with carrying the first interstellar dick pick, Pioneer 10 was the first of five artificial objects to achieve the velocity necessary to leave our solar system.

At the time contact was lost the probe was 7.6 billion miles from Earth

It is estimated that currently the probe is around 15 light hours away from the sun. Or around 10,5 billion miles.

So at this rate and trajectory it will take 90 000 years to reach another star
