If you really want to help homeless people, don’t provide them money and foodstamps, provide them a place to start over and don’t give them a choice to go back to the cities or to where they were assisted from. There a lot of suburbs that are dilapidated, work with businesses to open there have these people work on those factories or what not, so they could have a sense of self worth and dignity to be able to afford to buy themselves food etc.. teach them how to plant, take care of animals, work, teach them tradework etc to make a living, on a supervised community away from regular people. And once they are able to get to their senses and capable to live on their own and find job and pay for their own food, transportation and shelter, they can be assisted back to the city or wherever they can live comfortably. There are 50 states, and these people had been born and raised somewhere, find out where they came from and let that state help them and stop these state from sending their homeless people to Sacramento or any other cities just because they don’t want to deal with them. If the local government is not being funded by the President etc, let it be voiced in public for the whole country to listen.. maybe, that way, the government will listen.

As someone who was homeless for a year, and who continues to be on the verge of homelessness, the issue isn’t always a mental health one, rarely I’d say, it’s a matter of too high of rent plus too picky of rental management companies …

Too much talk.. less work being done.. if they really want to end homelessness they could just increase the security and once and for all take them on a rehab shelter whether they like it or not, enclosed or locked, no access to illegal drugs and alcohol, hire social workers and healthcare personnel, security or police, case managers to help them. Find out their state of origin send them back to the state where they came from to be back to their families or relatives and let the local government there deal with their fellow.. if they are psych issues send them to the asylum or another facility where they could get help.. all they do are band aid solution, taking them on rehab facilities but opening the door for them to just walk out and go back on streets and still use the Taxpayer’s money to fund all this senseless and endless patch up solution.
