When Ben 10 Grew Up [Ben 10: Alien Force] | Billiam

Ben 10 Alien Force is pretty darn good! It's got an awesome story, awesome characters, and all these new aliens for Ben to turn into! I wasn't expecting to talk about Ben 10 for 40 minutes, but here we are.

The thing that shocked me about alien force was that the dialogue was shockingly witty and entertaining.

I still think that the reason why Ben didn´t like "ship" (Julie´s alien pet) is because he still has the trauma of that time he got rejected by a girl that said that she only wanted to have him as an alien pet in the original series.

It always felt out of character that Ben seemed to regress back to how he was after the DNAlien arc ended. Looking back on it now, I think it can be justified in that Ben doesn't have anything to really focus on once that's wrapped up, and becoming a universe champion would likely go to his head. Him being serious in the first half was mainly because he had a conspiracy to worry about, while the villains afterwards were once he really didn't have much trouble with.

That episode where Ben stands up to his school bullies was just such a satisfying moment and a real moment of development to Ben’s character. It still sticks in my mind today.

Echo Echo is probably my favorite new alien in Alien Force, because it's so genuinely creative. You don't tend to associate sonic powers and self cloning powers, but the name connects those perfectly.

I love that “don’t you look dapper” is completely inscrutable as to wether or not Ben is being sincere. Like you can totally read it either way.

Out of the four shows from Ben 10's original run, "Alien Force" is probably my favorite one. It's pretty rare to see kid heroes get aged up significantly, so it was a lot of fun to see Ben, Gwen and Kevin grow up and the tone of the franchise grow up a bit more with them.

I consider Ultimate Alien Force (Alien Force + Ultimate Alien) to be the peak of Ben 10 which has yet to be topped. It had a maturity to it but still didn't take itself too seriously, and while the art style took a LONG time for me to get used to, the story is at the forefront of the showrunners' priorities. The episode where Ben stands up to his old bullies actually had a profound effect on me. While I'm sure it would come off as tame and formulaic by today's standards, at the time it felt refreshing to get a bullying message that wasn't either "petty revenge which is ultimately wrong" or "don't stoop to their level, just ignore it/rise above it". Ben stands up for himself and says he isn't going to take their abuse anymore. And he does it as a person, not as some alien superhero. That's powerful, I think.

Very excited for the next video, as some of this series' best moments come from Ultimate Alien. Also, Echo Echo is best alien of this era. Nobody @ me xP

I like how Ben 10: Alien Force took a darker turn with an action pack story driven series. It was more mature with the fans of the show that grew up with it as well!!
