The Nomes in Little Nightmares might seem like insignificant little critters, but they actually have a lot more going on than you might know!

In this video I explain the nomes in the world of Little Nightmares. I attempt to explain where they come from, what they represent, what they could mean in relation to our world and some things you might not have noticed about them.

It's interesting that a lot of people, including me, speculate the "ghost kid" grows up to be the Hunter(one missing arm, using flashlights, trapping prey etc.) and the Hunter's place is the only area in LN2 that we've found a nome so far and now you mention this!

Nome could be a reference to "nomen" the Latin word for "name" as being deprived of humanity robbed them of their names.

I actually got the Little Lost Things achievement for the first time the other day, (I know, I know, really late), so it's kind of cool to watch this after that!

You have the eyes of a hawk, to be able to see the mushrooms in the kitchen and the logos on the boxes. I didn't realize that every little thing (no puns intended) is significant

I’ve never played little nightmares but here I am watching this guy’s entire series on it

Just when I think I've heard it all, here comes Tericho with another theory. I'm always surprised by the connections you make and your ability to spot things that other people miss. Simply magnificent!

Wait, if the visitors doesn't care about the nomes, which means The Lady helps them to be not notice by normal people, some of the antagonists kills them and serve to be eaten. Remember on the VLN some of the antagonist ignore them and they lived there peacefully.
But I can't think about why theres a nome on hunter's attic?

is this the feeling that people call "mind-blown?"

i'm gonna watch more of your little nightmare theories :))

I feel like the entirety of little nightmares is a commentary on media, child labor and exploitation, and how it all effects everyone.
In the first game, it's about how the food places have an addictive feel to it all, hence why the guests are eating nonstop, and in one of the concept arts, six is showed to be working there, it can also be about how some of those places also want to harm children, I think it's shown by how the guests want to eat six, and the nomes are little kids, forced into work by their parents.
I'm not too sure about the very little nightmares
But I think the second game is about child exploitation on the TV, it's obvious. The reason why Mono would like to hide his face would be to, well, protect himself from crazy fans, the people who watched the tv run after mono once it is turned off, it could be because, 1.its because they are addicted to the point of having the tv off is like death to them, or 2.just like crazed fans, they just saw their favorite actor! So of course, they would run after him to get to him, and I feel like the scene where mono takes off his mask could be to show that... He doesn't want to act anymore, he doesn't want the cameras all around him anymore, and the thin man could be like his manager, making him do it more. Six in this case, could be like those friends of the celebrities who leave them once they are no longer famous, and the ending overall could be about how he never got to quit it, how he always felt trapped and watched by everyone as he grew to be an old and bitter manager, turning to the very thing he hated.

I hope I explained myself well, I'm on mobile, so the formatting and all that jazz can be bad, my apologies for that.

Doesn’t the Janitor also chase them at least once in the main game?

The nomes are my favourite part of this franchise. It makes my day seeing them get some love!

Hey Tericho, do think perhaps the name Nomes could be rearranged to be Omens instead? They are everywhere in this world and perhaps their appearance in society was more of an omen that this apocalyptic event was going to happen? That something wrong was going on

I sometimes wonder if the Lady's true power is transmutation. Her powers seem to fit into the characteristics of transmutation, the trading of one thing for another to change the state of something, but there is always a price of some sort. For example, she takes the souls of the guests in exchange for her bodies continued youth, but she can only see her true ugliness

Most games: die after 2ish months
Little nightmares franchise after 7 months:

Nomes being mushrooms are actually a good explanation to why Six ate the nomw instead of the sausage.Nearly all the food in the Maw is made of human meat and Six seems to know this and Nomes being normal mushrooms would make sense so I think eating the sausage would be cannibalism instead of eating a Nome too

I love the Alice in Wonderland and Lovecraft references, as they seem to indicate more and more of it being an actual Nightmare.
Spoilers for Ye Olde books ahead.
In 'Through the Looking Glass, ' Alice comes across a Red King who's sleeping, and one of the Tweedles tell her that they are all a part of his dream, and will cease to be if he awakens. Which he does at the end when Alice Checkmates him. Just like the Boy in the school.
The Eldritch dream and reference of Color coded kings in Lovecraft's works are a constant. One of which is a Crimson King, and his being Naughty.

In regards to the Nomes' lack of individuality, it makes me wonder if Six, due to the Thin Man taking her, lost her own sence of "me", ergo why her shadows like a Nome in the "secret" ending. The Nomes have shadows of their former selves, so what does it mean for Six, a supposed child, to have the shadow of a Nome?

I really do love these videos. This is one of the more palatable games for me. I really just watch your videos because I love your voice and it’s very calming, I listen to it while I study. And I also like little nightmares, one of the only horror games I can watch because I’m sensitive to glitches (which a lot of horror games have) i have missed a lot of live streams I believe but I really want to watch again. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait for the next video.
