When I buy a vehicle, I pay it off and drive it typically 15 to 20 years. New vehicle syndrome is bad for people.

Purchased a 1991 Nissan Sentra for a back up and grocery getter from a tow yard . The owner took 20 oz of silver for payment. It shows it's age but the engine and all the expensive stuff has been maintained. Been stacking for over 10 yrs. So the car cost me $300

Extremely FEW of us own our motor vehicles. I don't, you probably don't. We purchase an automobile, and for a few minutes we do own it, and then we make the tragic move to "gift" the automobile to our Registry of Motor Vehicles by sending our MSO/MCO Titles to them, in return for a "Certificate of Title" and plates (form of mark of the beast for vehicles), and we get to be "drivers" of "motor vehicles".

I refuse to pay more for a car, than what my parents paid for a three bedroom house. My truck is 40 years old. I paid $5, 995. for it (plus a little interest-it was my first car.) I took care of it, regular maintenance. Everything on it works. It has A/C and heat. It runs great (Toyota, of course) and does everything I need a car or truck to do. I will drive it until it dies, or is killed (hopefully not killed, it has no airbags.) Other than that, nope. Won't do it. In fact, it's too bad they don't make these anymore.

Bought a 2010 Prius new and it has cost me zero in repairs, $20 a month in gas but now is $158 a month for insurance!! Time is coming when I take it off the road and store because I can’t buy food anymore due to homeowners plus car insurances!!!!👵🏼Thought I could make it through until the crash but I am feeling the pain now!!

I repair light duty diesel pickups for a living. I watch grown men cry at least 5 days a week.

The benefits of living out of the cities and growing most of your food is HUGE SAVINGS. Not owning a vehicles saves us several hundred dollars a month. We only go to the city once a month to top off our food stocks when Our neighbor commutes to the city 6 days a week. If it was impossible to go to the city we could survive. Best advice is When you buy GOLD or Silver, also buy SEEDS. Food & seeds will be your most valuable asset

Very good illustrations. I would note that the peak in used car prices in 2022 was more a demand issues. COVID brought a chip shortage and you could not get new cars. Those who absolutely needed a car had to buy in the used market. Even now, the new car market is not stocking as in pre-COVID. That peak was supply and demand. The trend is the currency debasement you discussed, and overregulation.

Lynette, how can we trust any of the statistics or numbers that are reported today? Who knows what the true price of any these products when there hasn’t been price discovery for decades.

Last time I bought a "new to me" car was 2004 -- 2 yr old Subaru with 35k on it - it now has 188k on it... Paid for it with a HELOC since interest was deductible on those funds. I am not a good "new" car customer.

How are the insurance companies going to survive, when no one can afford the premiums, and just drop out?

Buy a simple and reliable old car and learn to maintain it. And maintain it regularly
