Is It Too Cold To Ride Your Horse?

Hi again! Something to think about, especially during colder weather is to know if it is too cold for you to be riding. My instructor has a rule that if it is less than 20 degrees Fahrenheit, we won't be riding.
How about you? when is it too cold to ride your horse?

Yeah I here you. That's where Id also keep my horses in the barn once I have them. I won't be riding them, but I'd hop on them and relax to some classical music while it's snowing outside. Just to have fun with them/grooming them as well!! :D

At our barn we only cancel if it is below 18°F. The biggest problem is sweat. People argue the horse will warm up from work, but too much will cause them to sweat which is difficult for them to regulate. Horses are ok in the cold which surprises some people, but with heavy work comes difficulties. If it is looking like 18° or just about, we keep cooler blankets on the horses to prevent sweat, and the riders get to nestle up in them too! Ha

I'm sorry but 20°f is only -6.6°c and that is nothing I would ride until it was -20°C
