Vale CYNTHIA WEIL Songwriter Extraordinaire / Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

I was profoundly saddened this morning to learn that one of my favourite composers and most prolific songwriters of all time has died. Cynthia Weil and her husband Barry Mann penned some of the most loved and performed records ever! I have chosen 'Make Your Own Kind Of Music' and the beautiful vocal of Mama Cass Elliott to honour and farewell this composer.

Songs like 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling', 'Don't Know Much'. 'Somewhere Out There', 'Here You Come Again', 'We Gotta Get Out Of This Place' and 'On Broadway' just a few of the classics the pair wrote. Parallel timelines for another great then husband and wife pairing Gerry Goffin and Carole King, Cynthia and Barry emerged in the early 1960's and the eminent 'Brill Building' house of artistry. The enormous contribution to popular music that Cyntha has made is immeasurable.

I had the briefest brush with fame with Cynthia, many years ago, when she visited a clip of mine on the channel and corrected me on some information in my description. I immediately fixed it and thanked her, whilst also paying respect to one of the titans of the music industry. It showed me how fiercely protective she was of her 'babies' and rightly so. Inducted into the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame in 1987 and the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame' in 2010, Cynthia was a Grammy winner and an Oscar nominee among her and Barry's myriad of honours.

Please check out recordings of her songs, she was a gem and the music of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil will live forever. My deepest condolences to Barry and their daughter Jenn and their wider family.

Cynthia Weil definitely made her own kind of music and gifted us with special songs.

Such a brave beautiful soul. Wish she did not pass wish someone close to stars would say no once in a while. If ya ask me she went out at the top of her game. Hope her daughter had great memories of her.
