Yuki Tsunoda's shock promotion to Red Bull Racing from Japan.

The eyes of the world are on Japan’s Yuki Tsunoda, who heads to Suzuka for his home race as Max Verstappen’s new teammate at Red Bull Racing.

The 24-year-old, who was initially snubbed for the job, has replaced Liam Lawson just days after the Kiwi’s second disastrous race for the team in China, a decision allegedly made at a crisis meeting in Dubai.

One thing is for sure, there is a huge crowd out there rooting for Yuki, and it will be awesome if he does well at Red Bull. And, by doig well, I mean doing what Perez did in his good days. And if it happened that he wins the odd race, it will be most special. One thing I know for a fact; Tsunoda has thicker skin than all the teammates MV had at Red Bull, including Ricciardo, he is tenatious, and resilient. And now he has experience. He is fast too. GO YUKI!

2:30 Make no mistake, this year's Red Bull is a handful for Verstappen as well, but the genius he is, he can make it go fast. Not unlike Senna driving a very subpar McLaren in 1993, and still winning five races.

I doubt he'll shine because simply based on reality he'll most likely struggle just as much in the RB21, but giving him a chance in the main team while the Honda backing is still relevant is a good move.

It's logical that Max may have an exit clause in his contract if the team falls to a certain position in the constructor's standings. The key questions are what that position is, would Max become a free agent for 2026, and is this the main reason RBR pulled the trigger so soon on the driver swap? I guess if you're Yuki, it's more like providence.
