We spoke with Damien Sheehan, Country Head International Worskpace Group (IWG), about the business, which is the world’s largest provider of flexible workplace solutions be it, co-working or serviced offices.
It's two main brands in Australia are Regus and Spaces.
Founded in 1989 in Brussels, by current CEO and founder, Mark Dickson, the business has 3,330 centres globally with the majority company owned. The business is now embarking on their franchise journey which they believe is the next frontier in franchise offers.
Damien refers to it as "...a workspace revolution. It's a real social movement, it's an employee lead movement, especially the millennials, they want to have flexibility in where they work, they want to dictate how they work, when they work and where they work."
It is a property services business looking for people that have ideally run service based businesses before who understand what it means to love your customers. Or, those that understand the franchise industry really well and how the model works. Another interesting and good fit, can be property owners looking to increase the yield on their asset by placing in a Regus or Spaces franchise and run that as a separate business within the building.
